What is PA12 Blue MD?
PA12 Blue MD (Metal Detectable) is the only SLS material that is simultaneously food-safe and triple detectable. The blue color is not a coating but is part of the polymer matrix itself: every particle is blue. This means that even when a part breaks, every fragment is detectable and traceable.
PA12 Blue MD is EC 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR certified for direct food contact without additional treatment. For food processing, pharmaceutical packaging, and industrial applications where product safety and HACCP compliance are critical.
Triple detection
PA12 Blue MD is detectable in three ways:
Metal detection: the material contains additives that are picked up by standard metal detectors on production lines.
X-ray detection: visible on X-ray inspection systems, even small fragments.
Optical detection: the blue color stands out clearly on production lines with camera inspection, especially on standard food products.

PA12 Blue MD has comparable mechanical properties (49 vs 45 MPa tensile strength), but is slightly stiffer and less flexible (12% vs 20% elongation). The main advantages are detectability and food-grade certification without post-treatment.
